Through-buses (HCMC–Phnom Penh)
Most travellers use direct coaches that stop at both immigration buildings. Drivers usually wait while you stamp out of Vietnam and into Cambodia.
Use Bavet when travelling overland from Vietnam into Cambodia with an approved eVisa.
Bavet in Svay Rieng Province is the busiest land crossing between Vietnam and Cambodia. It faces Moc Bai on the Vietnamese side and sits on the main highway corridor linking Ho Chi Minh City with Phnom Penh.
Cambodia eVisa holders may enter and exit here. After clearing Cambodian immigration, coaches and private cars continue west toward Phnom Penh. The border area also has casinos, duty-free shopping and exchange booths used by transit travellers.
Complete Vietnamese exit immigration. Keep your passport and Cambodia eVisa letter ready for the Cambodian side.
Move through the short no-man’s-land between the two gates. You may pass duty-free shops, exchange booths and food stalls before Cambodian immigration.
Present matching passport and printed approval letter at the eVisa / immigration counters. Decline unofficial “helpers” outside the building.
Rejoin your through-bus or book a coach / private car toward Phnom Penh. Allow extra time at peak hours for queues.
Bavet is built around the highway coach corridor — plan your onward ride before or immediately after immigration.

Expect several hours by road to the capital after leaving Bavet. Keep your stamped passport accessible for any roadside checks.

Shopping, money and practical services around the Bavet–Moc Bai zone. Hours and operators can change — use official counters.
Duty-free and border shops sell spirits, tobacco, perfume and convenience goods in the crossing zone. Keep passport/ID ready if asked and check purchase limits.
Official exchange booths change USD, VND and KHR. Rates from touts are often poor — exchange only what you need for the journey, or withdraw in HCMC / Phnom Penh when possible.
ATMs may be available near Bavet casinos or border facilities, but they can run out of cash or charge high fees. Carry spare USD for emergencies.
Cambodian SIMs (e.g. Metfone, Smart, Cellcard) are often sold just after the border for data and calls on the road to Phnom Penh.
Food stalls and small eateries serve travellers between the gates. Casino complexes nearby also offer dining if you have a longer layover.
Basic toilets, parking for coaches, and information from uniformed staff. Avoid paying unofficial “fixers” for immigration — official fees are handled at the counters.
Yes. Bavet (Svay Rieng) is the main Vietnam–Cambodia land checkpoint that accepts Cambodia eVisa for entry and exit. Present the same passport used in your application and a printed approval letter.
The Vietnamese checkpoint opposite Bavet is Moc Bai (Tay Ninh Province). Travellers from Ho Chi Minh City typically take the highway corridor to Moc Bai, clear Vietnam exit, then enter Cambodia at Bavet.
Direct coaches and private cars run along the highway from the Bavet area to Phnom Penh. Through-buses from Ho Chi Minh City usually wait while passengers complete immigration, then continue to the capital.
